ER Visitation POlicy 11/10/22
PURPOSE
To establish guidelines for visitation in the Emergency Department.
POLICY
It is the policy of Copiah County Medical Center Emergency room to have an established visitation guideline.
PROCEDURE

Patients seen in the Emergency Department will be allowed only 1 visitor in the treatment rooms.

Visitors may be allowed to swap out with the patient's consent and at the charge nurse's approval.

Visitors must be 18 years or older to be allowed in treatment rooms.

Patients that are 17 years of age or younger must have an adult parent or legal guardian present in the treatment room during the duration of the Emergency Department visit.

There are circumstances that may allow for more than 1 visitor and they are listed as such:
* End of life
* If the patient is admitted into the hospital, but still in the Emergency Department waiting for a bed, hospital visitation and exception guidelines will be followed.
