Biography:

A native of Jackson, Dr. Hosemann attended Jackson Academy and went on to undergraduate studies at The University of Mississippi, graduating Summa Cum Laude from The Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Mississippi Medical Center and completed his Orthopaedic Residency at The University of Alabama-Birmingham. Dr. Hosemann underwent an additional year of specialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at The American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama under the tutelage of world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews and his partners, Dr. Lyle Cain, Dr. Bill Clancy, and Dr. Jeff Dugas. As a fellow, Dr. Hosemann served as an associate physician for Auburn University and the Birmingham Barons. Upon completion of his fellowship in 2011, Dr. Hosemann joined Capital Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center in Jackson.

Dr. Hosemann specializes in disorders of the shoulder, elbow, and knee as well as all sports-related injuries. He has a special interest in injuries in throwing athletes and treatment of shoulder injuries such as rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability. Dr. Hosemann also has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of elbow injuries in throwers, including “Tommy John” ligament reconstruction. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures of the knee, including ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery. Dr. Hosemann has expertise in both shoulder and knee replacement surgery as well. He also has extensive experience in the treatment of on-the-job injuries and navigating the intricacies of workers’ compensation claims.

During his time at ASMI, Dr. Hosemann assisted in the diagnosis and treatment of professional athletes from the NCAA, NFL, NBA, PGA, MLB, NHL, MLS, WWE, MMA, professional tennis, softball, gymnastics, ballet, and the Olympics. Dr. Hosemann is also a member of multiple academic societies including The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and The Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Hosemann and his wife, the former Courtney Clayton of Yazoo City, have three children and are active in the greater Jackson community. They are members of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson. Dr. Hosemann is an avid snow skier and had the great experience of being an alpine ski instructor in Vail, Colorado for a season. He enjoys hiking and mountain climbing and has hiked on four continents, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Ayers Rock in Australia, and five of Colorado’s fourteeners. He also enjoys bass and offshore fishing, and hunting duck, deer, and turkey in Mississippi. His other hobbies include golf, mountain biking, and scuba diving.
